The Mommy Hook Review and Giveaway

The Mommy Hook is an amazing little contraption!  It seems so simple, but at the same time it's something you may not even think of.

"The Mommy Hook is the perfect stroller hanger. Built to last, lightweight and versatile, The Mommy Hook. fits virtually all stroller handles. The Mommy Hook. is made from durable, heavy-duty aluminum it won't break like cheap plastic hangers. Its rubber guide keeps it from slipping or sliding. Use The Mommy Hook. on your stroller. Use it on your shopping cart. Just snap it on and you're ready to roll! The Mommy Hook. easily holds diaper bags, shopping bags, camera bags, groceries, purses, clothes, toys, sports gear, and much more! It's even handy for taking bags from your car to your home."

I don't know about you, but one of my stroller pet-peeves is that the baskets are NEVER big enough for a good shopping trip at the mall.  By the time you've got the diaper bag loaded in down there, the majority of space is taken up.  If it's winter time and you're like us, everyone takes off their coats and tries to cram them down there as well.  Need to do some serious shopping?  Great!  Now...where in the world are the bags going to go?

The Mommy Hook changes that!  Simply clip your diaper bag (or shopping bags) to the hook, it's easy to access, nobody can just walk off with it (after all, it's latched onto your stroller!) and it leaves room in the basket for purchases.  I love using it at the grocery store.  I'm always worried someone is going to snatch the diaper bag that I use as a purse.  It's been happening a lot lately, especially with the dumpy economy, and it's always in the back of my mind.  Sometimes I'm so busy with the kids that anyone could take advantage of the situation.  Not with the Mommy Hook!  I can hook the diaper bag onto the cart and no more worry!

I would be careful with overloading the hook if you have it on your stroller, you wouldn't want to risk tipping your little one over backwards!  My diaper bag doesn't weigh very much, just a change of clothes, a few diapers and my wallet, so it doesn't affect our big double stroller.  Just something to keep in mind if you have a heavy bag, lightweight stroller and lightweight child!

Buy It!
The Mommy Hook can be found online at a number of retailers, including Amazon.com, Toys R Us and Babies R Us, just to name a few!

Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story

We're expecting a huge snowstorm in my part of the country over the next couple of days.  If you're expecting the same, drag out the cozy blankets, pop up some popcorn, grab a box of tissues and turn on Lifetime!

Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story is based on the dramatic true story of Tiffany Rubin's daring 2008 rescue of her 6-year-old son Kobe after he was abducted by his biological father and taken to Seoul, South Korea.  A mother's ultimate worst nightmare is played out on the screen as you watch this film.  I can't even imagine the horrors she felt, it's like an icicle to the gut just thinking about it.

Starring the amazing Taraji P. Henson (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Terry O'Quinn (Lost), and Beverly Todd (Crash), you can check it out for yourself tonight on Lifetime.  Check your local listings!

In the meantime, here's a little "sneak peak"!

Mommy's Night In!

Sex toys - EdenFantasys adult toys storePlease note that this is a post for ADULTS.  All images are kid-safe, but links included in this post should be opened when the kids aren't in the room.

Yes, Valentine's Day is coming up, but that's NOT what this EdenFantasys post is about!  It's about all the absolutely amazing relaxation, "mommy's night in", "bubble baths with candle light" products they have!

Let me elaborate.

This Intimate Organics foaming bath comes in three different scents: Cocoa Bean/Goji Berry, Coconut/Lemon Grass and Fresh Orange/Wild Ginger.  It's an organic extract, vegan bath product that, from the reviews, this boasts some great long lasting bubbles, perfect for a long soak in the tub!  They have many others bubble baths, but I also want to tell you about...

The aromatherapy candles!  Yes, you read that right, natural, lightly filtered beeswax candles combine with essential oils to provide whatever mood you're going for, from relaxation to well being, there's a candle for you!

Of course they have other things to make your night in a little more exciting, but I'll leave that for another post!

Disclaimer: I received a gift card in return for writing this post.

Wordless Wednesday

I love this goofy face!  It's usually the "that pacifier is NOT what I wanted" face ;)

If you see anything odd going on tonight, no worries, I'm going to attempt a new layout if the beauty in the picture allows me to do so, so things may look wonky for a little bit depending on how things work for me tonight!

lifenest sleeping system

Having a newborn again, even though it hasn't been that long since the LAST time I had one, really makes me think about sleep safety.  Every time I lay Little Miss Princess down for a nap or at night, I think about where I'm putting her, I check to make sure no stray toys had assistance hopping into the bed and that there are no blankets around. When she's not swaddled, she likes to do her best to flop onto her belly already, so I have to check on her more periodically than I did the boys.  She sleeps so much better on her belly, but I'm always worried about her not being able to breathe very well or spitting up and having a mess in her face.

When I read about the lifenest sleeping system, I knew I had to check it out because it addresses the exact anxieties I have about Little Miss Princess' sleeping!

"In an effort to keep your baby safe, the LifeNest Sleeping System was created to relieve everyday common anxieties for parents of a newborn. Created by renowned ear, nose and throat specialist, Dr. Jose Bensoussan, ubiMED’s patented LifeNest was specifically designed to ensure the highest level of comfort and safety. The LifeNest fits securely on any standard crib and is easily portable for parents on the go.

The LifeNest mesh hammock cradles the baby, maintaining the recommended baby-on-back sleeping position, while allowing unrestricted movements. The breathable hammock allows the baby to breathe freely even if he/she turns accidentally on his/her tummy. A second hammock is built into the mattress cover, reinforcing strength and safety. The tight fitting mattress cover prevents mattress cover entrapment risk. A second hammock reinforced the one on the adjustable seat and the ventilation channels allow a free airflow.

The LifeNest Sleeping System is a product with many benefits. It is designed to reduce the chances of suffocation, prevent overheating, reduce sweating, keep your baby dry, and most importantly provide comfort for your newborn."

bumGenius 4.0 review on a newbie!

With all the excited talk about bumGenius and their one size diapers, I finally took the plunge!  CottonBabies recently had a 'seconds' sale and I decided to pick up a couple to give them a shot!  I'm feeling stuck in my ways in terms of diapers and was up for trying something new!  'Seconds' sales don't scare me off, typically the diapers just have a bit of dirt or stray strings on them.  One of the ones I got had a bunch of strings on it and a little bit of weird stitching and the other one has a slightly funky snap, but nothing that affects function, so I'm very pleased with my purchase!!

I chose 2 blossom bumGenius 4.0's because we don't have very many girly diapers yet!  I ordered the snap version initially and then the next day decided maybe I should get just one more...they were almost all sold out and I ended up getting a hoop & loop version as well.  I prefer snaps, just as a personal choice in case I end up with diaper escape artists.  I also think the snaps wear better...I've never seen a diaper with worn out snaps, but I HAVE seen a diaper with icky looking hook & loops.  Again, personal choice and it's obviously not that big of a deal to me if I bought one of each! ;)

This diaper is a smidgen on the bulky side at the moment, but part of that could be that I stuffed it with a prefold instead of an actual insert.  No big deal, again, personal choice...she's a decent wetter already and the newborn inserts don't last very long for her.  By the time I change her and feed her, she needs changed again with a newborn insert, but with a prefold she's able to take a nap after nursing before needing changed again.

Little Miss Princess is about 8.5 pounds right now, so she's still on the smallest setting rise-wise.  The bumGenius 4.0's have a strip of waterproof/cover material at the top of the diaper, near her belly button if you're looking at the picture, that REALLY helps with wicking out the top of the diaper.  We've had leaks at the belly on her with other one size diapers and that's not been a problem with the 4.0s!  Love it!

The 4.0 fits Little Miss' "chicken legs" just fine!  There have been no blow outs or leaking at the legs, which, again, can't be said for all one size diapers!  I think that overall I'm really happy I took the plunge to try something new!  Not only did we add a couple of pink diapers to the mix, but they fit great for at-home days!  We can easily use them as a going out diaper, but we have to go up a size in pants and it's not uber convenient at the moment.  Not a big deal, we don't really go anywhere in these early newborn days anyway!

Buy It!
bumGenius 4.0's can be purchased directly from CottonBabies or from any number of cloth diaper sites  (Kelly's Closet is my favorite store to order from) for $17.95.  That's a great price for a diaper that can work from 7-35 pounds!

Disclaimer: I purchased the diapers in this review, there was no product provided for me to write this review.

Chex Recipes!

There are so many great tasting Chex Party Mix recipes that you can make in the microwave in only 15 minutes! Try The Original Chex® Party Mix or Chex® Ginger-Honey Crunch for sure crowd pleasers.

Our favorite recipe to make with Chex cereal, no matter the season, is puppy chow!  We made some just last week and it's already long gone, the kids love it, hubby loves it, I love it...it's a hit all around!

Ingredients

* 1/2 cup butter
* 1 cup creamy peanut butter
* 2 cups milk chocolate chips
* 1 (17.5 ounce) package crispy corn and rice cereal
* 1 pound confectioners' sugar

Directions

1. Melt the peanut butter with the butter or margarine and the milk chocolate. Pour over the cereal and toss together until well coated.
2. The recipes says: Place the coated cereal in a large paper sack then add the confectioners' sugar, fold down the top of the bag and shake to coat.  WE say: Place the cereal in a large plastic food storage container and shake it all around until everything is coated in the sugar!

What's YOUR favorite Chex cereal recipe? Care to share it?

IntelliCeuticals Review and Giveaway

IntelliCeuticals, by Intelligender, is a line of natural, healthy remedies for both mom and baby.

As per the company website, "IntelliCeuticals introduces the best natural remedies to help informed moms and their babies feel happy, healthy and ready for the world each day! Our herbal remedies are safe, effective solutions for the health and comfort of mothers-to-be."

They have several products that can be used before baby arrives, including elasti-oil (a topical oil to help with skin issues), baby's best milk drops (a breastfeeding stimulant), and episi-prep cream.  There are a few others as well, but you'll have to check those out for yourself. ;)

I had the chance to try out the episi-prep cream, but I didn't end up actually using it!  It was purely accidental, it was in my hospital bag to use before birth and I totally forgot that we brought it!  It can be used after birth as well, but I was lucky enough to not need stitches this time around.

The episi-prep cream is a 100% herbal formula containing Vitamin E oil, Gotu Kola, Comfrey essential oil, St. John's Wort, lavender essential oil, Pilewort, Silica and witch hazel.

The episi-prep cream can be used...
"Before birth and during the last few weeks of pregnancy Episi-Prep Cream can be massaged onto the perineal area, one to three times a day, helping to tone and prepare this area for the stretching it will experience during childbirth. After your baby is born, Episi-Prep Cream can be used as part of your post-birth recovery schedule to safely and effectively soothe the perineum.  After cleansing the area, gently apply once or twice a day."

I REALLY wish I'd remembered to use it, it sounds like it would be lovely!

There are also products that can be used after baby's arrival, including new mom rebalancing drops, which I also had the opportunity to try!

These drops are made with Don Quai, dill and ginger.  To use, you simply "add 15 drops of the remedy to approximately 1/4 cup just boiled water and allow to cool. Drink as is or, as an alternative, dilute further in water or juice. Use this mixture three times daily for 6-12 weeks after giving birth.  You will achieve the best results if the remedy is used regularly."

Now, I've been doing my best to do this the optimal 3 times a day, but most days it doesn't end up happening.  I can't tell you how well they work or what they really do for my body, I think I would be exhausted regardless of if I take them or not, these kiddos can run a mommy down some days!  I do know that I've felt better physically and feel "healed" and "back to normal" much faster than I did with the boys.  I'm only a couple of weeks into it though, I still have some weeks to continuing using the drops, so I'll have to let you know at the end of the 6-12 weeks how things are going!

The final IntelliCeuticals product I want to tell you about is the clear away cradle cream, which I think sounds like a wonder-product!  The boys both had awful cradle cap and I could never find anything natural enough for me to be comfortable using on their precious heads.  The clear away cradle cream is just what I was looking for!  Made with almond essential oil, marigold, Gotu Kola, and Heartsease, this 100% natural formula provides moisture to baby's tender scalp and reduces the look of dry and flaky skin.  I didn't get the opportunity to try this product myself, but one of you will!  Just check it out below!

You can now find Intelligender, the makers of IntelliCeuticals, on Facebook!

Buy It!
At this time, the above products, along with several others not mentioned, can be found and purchased on the IntelliCeuticals website.

Win It!
As I mentioned, one of you awesome readers is going to win a tube of clear away cradle cream!  I have to say that I'm a teeny bit jealous!

Intelligender Giveaway

When I was pregnant with each of the kids, my first thought after finding out about the pregnancy was always, "I wonder if it'll be a boy?" and "Will it be a girl??" and then proceeded to wait until the 25-ish week to discover the answer.  None of my kids were shy during their ultrasounds, thank goodness!  I'm not an overly patient person and as exciting as waiting until birth may be for some people, I don't think I could actually do it!!

I first heard about Intelligender when I was pregnant with Tiny Man, and I already had had my ultrasound at that point.  I have to say, I was very curious about it, but didn't want to spend money on something when I already knew the answer.  By the time I realized I was even pregnant with Little Miss Princess, it was almost time for me to get my ultrasound and it was a whirlwind of emotion, Intelligender didn't enter my thoughts until a week or so before the ultrasound and, as impatient as I am, we decided to wait and see.

Intelligender is a gender prediction test that can be used as early as 10 weeks into pregnancy (or 8 weeks past conception, if you know that date!).

As per the Intelligender website:

"It uses first morning urine and a proprietary mix of chemicals which reacts with a combination of hormones to indicate the gender of your baby.  It can be performed as early as 10 weeks of pregnancy (six weeks from the first day of the missed period). It is an easy test to perform and provides quick results in-home so the news can be shared right away.

IntelliGender reminds all pregnant moms that seeing an obstetrician early in the pregnancy is critical for the health of the mother and the baby and should follow the advice of their physician.
You simply collect first morning urine and insert into the test vessel.  Swirl rapidly in a circular motion, place the test on a flat white surface undisturbed for minutes. Below are examples of test results:"

I really like the idea of this product and you can bet that if I have another little one, Intelligender will come to mind to purchase to give it a test!

You can now get all kinds of updates about Intelligender on Facebook!

Buy It!
You can purchase Intelligender through the manufacturer's website here, or at drugstores nationwide for about $34.95.

Win It!

Would you like to find out early whether your little one is a boy or a girl?  Intelligender has offered one of my readers the opportunity to do just that!  One lucky winner will receive an Intelligender test to try out for themselves!

Entries: I must be able to easily find an email address for the winners. If it isn't in your visible profile, please include it in your comment. If you're chosen and I can't find an email address, I'll be forced to choose another winner. The winner will have 48 hours to respond to my email before another winner is chosen.
