Walgreens and Express Scripts? No more.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

For the past year, Walgreens and Express Scripts attempted to negotiate a new contract for the coming year.  These negotiations failed and as of January 1, 2012, Express Script customers can no longer get their medications filled at Walgreens locations.

I am incredibly grateful we don't fall into this category.  I love how easy it is to drive up and grab our prescriptions, especially with 3 littles ones!  They can be sleeping away in the backseat and I can pull up and take care of getting the medication they need to get over whatever ailment they have going on at that particular time.  I also love that "our" Walgreens is right next door.  It really doesn't get any more convenient than that! It's saddening to know that so many people are going to have to change their pharmacies when some have been going to the same place for years and have developed relationships with their pharmacists.

If you are effected by the changes, Walgreens is trying to make the disruption as easy as possible.  During the month of January, individuals can join the Prescription Savings Club at Walgreens for only $5 ($10 for a family) and save money on thousands of medications, bot brand name and generic.  The regular price for membership is $20 per individual or $35 per family, so that's a fabulous savings!
