When Little Miss Princess was a newborn, we did a little project with her footprints in some baked clay-ish stuff and I look at it now like, "Wow! Those feet have gotten big and chunky!" It hangs on the wall, so I see it daily and I love that! I was at Michaels today, wandering around with a 40% off coupon (because, really, who wants to waste one of those??). It's been awhile since I was in there, especially without kids, so I was taking my time.
I happened to end up back at the canvas section and noticed they were on sale, 40% off the regular price. Then I noticed they had a four pack of small squares. The wheels started turning a little. I kept walking to see how much the paint was, because I only had pink at home and if I was going to do this, I wanted to do a color that would work in my home for years to come. Black. Genius. The paint was on sale too. Fabulous!!
I don't have any "in process" pictures because it was just the kids and I, and 3 kids, black paint and hands? I'll hold off on the pictures. I did get the water based stuff so it washed off easily. Talker Man and Little Miss Princess did fabulous jobs. Tiny Man, his got some serious smearing action. I actually did his twice, I tried it on the extra piece too, but it was worse than the first. I ran the canvas under some water and the paint washed right off since I did it immediately. You can see a little bit of a ring, but I can live with that.
Finished art project for mommy's wall:
Easy and CUTE! Plus, since I used black, I'll be able to use it virtually anywhere I decide. I'm going to put their names and the year on the backs so in 10 years I can remember whose was whose.
Hope this gave you an idea for a keepsake project of your own! You really can't beat the $12 price tag, and if you already have the paint, it would only be $9! Love it!
