Fridge Hunt with Evergreen! #choosecartons
We were recently sent on a mission. A fridge mission. A fridge mission to see what the products were typically purchased are packaged in and to look into why the packaging really makes a difference!
Here's a nosy peek into our fridge - it's a little disorganized, but it happens.
As you can see, most of what I buy is packaged in plastic. I don't know about you, but until I went on this mission, the packaging didn't really occur to me, I just grabbed what we used and that was the end of it. I thought the plastic was a plus, because it doesn't shatter or tear, but after looking around at ChooseCartons.com, I now know that cartons are just better all around!

- Over 41 million households have access to carton recycling, and that number is on the rise. In addition, cartons are made from renewable materials – more than 70 percent of the carton is made from paper, all from trees from responsibly managed forests.
- Packaging plays a very important role in keeping food and beverages fresh. The environmental impact of a package is just as important as the contents inside.
- Cartons are recyclable where facilities exist. The paper fiber contained in cartons is valuable. Recycled cartons are used to make products such as tissue, office paper, wall boards and other building materials. To learn if your community accepts cartons for recycling, please visit www.recyclecartons.com or check with your local recycling program.
- Cartons are made with renewable energy. More than 50 percent of the energy used to make the paper in Evergreen Packaging’s cartons comes from biomass.
- Responsible forestry promotes new forest growth, and these forests help to diminish greenhouse gases. Forests remove carbon from the atmosphere and store it in trees. In the US, due to both increases in the total area of forest land and increases in the carbon stored per acre, an additional 192 million metric tons of carbon are sequestered each year through responsible forest management programs nationwide. This offsets roughly 11% of the country’s industrial greenhouse gas emissions, the equivalent of removing almost 135 million passenger vehicles from the nation’s highways.

What we thought!
I did NOT tell my kiddos that there were carrots (okay, the juice of carrots) in these, because Talker Man would balk at the idea. I just let them test them out and there were positive results all around. We took a box down to share with the neighborhood kids who they've been playing with and every single one of them liked them too! They thought the carrot shapes were cool, but had no idea they actually contained carrot juice.

I was gone for entirely too long and here's a brief photo journey. Starting with my broken car, overload of work, family time and ending with the un-photographed very sick little girl I've had on my hands. Not a very good explanation, but I hope all the stormy "weather" has passed my little family for the time being so I can get back to my favorite activity!
